Safeguarding at AFC Waverton

In order to coach or assist at a training session or match, you will need a valid Club DBS check completed. This includes anyone over the age of 16 who deals directly with AFC Waverton players during the course of training sessions or fixtures, rather than just being a spectator or helping out with the goals at the start or the end of a session (which is very much appreciated).

The online CRC Enhanced Disclosure application allows The FA to have sight of any criminal record or non-conviction information that is held and released by the Police via the CRC Process. More information can be found within this guidance document (link to the attached PDF). You will receive a certificate once the check has been processed and this is then reviewed by The FA and added on to your Whole Game System record if they are accepted. The DBS check lasts 3 years.

This isn’t a quick process and, as well as the online application, will require you to arrange to visit the Club Welfare Officer with originals of your Identification documentation in for the application to progress.

AFC Waverton will not authorise you to be involved with training sessions or fixtures until the DBS check appears on the Whole Game System, nor at any point after the expiry date unless another check is completed and accepted by The FA.

This is for the welfare and safeguarding of all our players, something we as a Club take very seriously.

For more information please read the guideline and contact our Club Welfare Officer, Sarah Phelps, if you have any questions throughout the process - club.welfare@afcwaverton.com.

Coaching at AFC Waverton

We are proud of our committed coaches across all age groups and sections - each one provides their own time on a volunteer basis to help develop and shape our players and teams.

All of our coaches hold as a minimum, the Introduction to Coaching Football (previously known as the FA Level 1) certificate with others progressing further to their Level 2 and even UEFA B and UEFA A! Coach development is a priority and we as a club are always looking for opportunities to extend our individual and collective knowledge.

In addition to the FA Football certifications, each coach will also hold a FA First Aid and Safeguarding Children certificate, in addition to an in-date approved DBS check.

If you would like to understand more about our coaching offer here at AFC Waverton, and if you are interested in getting involved, please reach out to Sarah at club.welfare@afcwaverton.com or Carl at club.chairman@afcwaverton.com
