Are you the next AFC Waverton hero?

posted Nov 16, 2016, 7:50 AM by Phil Lathaen

The season is well underway but running a Football Club is an all year round activity. Made up of numerous parent volunteers the Coaches and Committee members are continually looking for further assistance so that our children can play the game we all love in a safe and enjoyable environment.

During the Summer months the Club had to relocate both of our equipment containers at Waverton playing fields. Those of you who know the size of the large, iron, units will know this is no easy task - particularly as we had to make one permanently disappear! Andy Smith, one of the coaches of our under 11 Wasps, took it upon himself to make this happen whilst also leading the charge, with others supporting him, to reorganise the equipment. This above the call of duty act - on top of the many hours spent on the training pitch or on the side during game days by our Coaches - is what helps make and keeps the Club going. As such Andy is our first recipient of our new Club Person of the Month award - Thank you!

Andy, pictured below with some of his u11s players, was presented with the Club Person of the month award by Robbie Mills, Club professional coach.

Could it be you next month? Would you like to help more at our Club? We talk about Parents but Grandparents are also very welcome and possibly have time to help with Committee roles and organisation of the Club? We would love to hear from you! If interested please contact clubsecretary@afcwaverton.com
