End of Season Event!

posted by Club Webmaster

It is with great pleasure that we can officially announce our 1st ever End of Season Event for ALL AFC Waverton teams; an opportunity for us to come together and celebrate our successes of the past season as ONE CLUB.

The Club will be providing trophies for all players to be presented by individual team coaches. Family members also welcome! You will be able to purchase drinks from the licensed bar as well as food and ice cream from our catering partners. We will also be setting up pitches on the Queens Fields for coaches to organise matches within their age groups. Other activities to be confirmed.

When is it? - Sunday July 14th between 10 and 2.30pm.

Where is it? - Waverton Village Hall

How is it going to work?

10am - 12.30: Age groups up to and including U11's (rotate between medal presentations, playing matches and eating and drinking)

12.00 - 2.30pm: Age groups from U12's and above (rotate between medal presentations, playing matches and eating and drinking)

We will use the overlap time between 12 and 12.30 for a Club photograph, featuring as many of our players, coaches and volunteers as possible.

Please can all players wear their AFC Waverton kits.

We are looking for volunteers to help set up the pitches plus any prizes from local businesses that could be used for a raffle.

It will be great to see as many people involved with the Club, hopefully having a fun day in the sunshine!

Any volunteers please email Chris Rose

See you there?

Train with Real Madrid youth coaches this summer

posted Apr 24, 2019, 6:20 AM by Club Webmaster

Who's going to train like a Galatico this August? Real Madrid Coaches are returning 26th to 30th August 2019 and our friends at Footgolf Chester are again hosting.

Last year's clinic was a huge success and the players had lots of fun as well as improving their skills. The top scoring player will get to go forward for a chance to play at the Berabeu!

So get involved and secure your place. Open to non AFC Waverton players too so feel free to spread the word - the more the merrier!

One for our budding goalkeepers

SR Football Development are running their first ever Goalkeeper clinic on Friday 5th April 2019.

Quite a few AFC Waverton players regularly attend the SR their holiday camps and feedback is always great.

If you fancy brushing up on your goalkeeper skills during the school holidays then this might be the perfect day for you.

Community Day at Chester FC - Saturday 9th March 2019

posted Feb 22, 2019, 6:05 AM by Club Webmaster   [ updated Mar 1, 2019, 6:15 AM ]

It’s Community Day on Saturday 9th March at the Swansway Chester Stadium, when Chester FC take on Leamington.

Hundreds of free tickets will be available for children from local schools and grassroots clubs to pack out the Intilery South Stand for the match and take part in a half-time parade around the pitch.

Waverton AFC have been invited to share the free children's tickets available for the match with our players and it would be great if we could create a sea of yellow in the stand. Accompanying adults are only £10 each so a great opportunity to see Chester FC in action.

Pre-game there will be a host of activities on offer at the Swansway Chester Stadium including free face painting, football inflatables. The Community Trust, who will be raising funds at the match to support the charity’s work, will be running free football sessions on the day for boys and girls along with walking football taster sessions for older supporters.

So, what are you waiting for?  Tickets need to be pre-requested so to secure yours, please get in touch with your AFC Waverton Team Coach to let them know how many tickets you'd like. We'll book them with Chester FC and pass them on to you on the day.

Pop Saturday 9th March in the diary now so you don't forget, message your coach now and join other AFC Waverton players in the stand on the day.

Great match for the Waverton Wasps U9's in the sunshine on Saturday morning against Tarvin Blues U9's.

8-4 to Wasps at the final whistle and looks like both teams enjoyed the match! Thanks to all the players, coaches and parents.

U6's v Neston Nomads Friendly

posted Feb 9, 2019, 5:28 AM by Club Webmaster

The U6's were delighted to pay the Neston Nomad's this morning and played some great football. For some of the boys and girls it was their first friendly match and they all did really well.

Big thanks to the Neston Nomads players, coaches and parents as well as our coach, Robbie, for organising. We'll hopefully be having a few more friendlies over the coming months and will of course head off to Neston to play the Nomads again.

Our Year 1 and Reception boys and girls train at 9am on a Saturday morning at Christleton Sports Centre. If you have a player who would like to get involved, it doesn't matter if they've not played football before, then please get in touch and they can join in the fun!

Help needed!

We are a football club with over 400 players but are run by relatively few volunteers. Our aim is to really push forward and achieve some great things for our boys and girls who get so much enjoyment from playing football and being part of something special.

We need more help! Are you a parent, guardian or grandparent of one of our players who would like to get more involved?

Find out more about the roles available on our Volunteer page and please get in touch for more information!

Thank you
