Our Mini's wave farewell to Adam

Our Saturday morning mini's session (Reception and Year 1) said a fond farewell to coach Adam last Saturday. 

Adam started helping our Club Pro Robbie when he was 13 and after 5 brilliant years, is now saying goodbye to the little ones. He is an absolute super star and has helped many of our young players learn new skills, gain confidence and most importantly have fun. 

Good luck Adam. We will all genuinely miss you and hope to see you again, after some fantastic adventures overseas! 

Our U9's had an amazing weekend!

Our U9's Wasps team had an amazing weekend! 

Winners of the Claire House Cup on Sunday; Played 9 matches, Won 7, Drew 1 and Lost 1. The team only conceded only 2 goals in the 9 games.  

The win was a bit of a surprise as the lads are a bit tired having had a long day at the Young Lions tournament at Bebington the day before. They also made the final of their age group in the Young Lions, but narrowly missing out with a 1-0 loss; Played 10, Won 8, Lost 2 and again conceding only 2 goals in the 10 games played. Having started at 10am, the day was a marathon, eventually finishing at 7.15pm! 

So all in all,19 games over a football filled weekend, with 15 wins, 15 clean sheets and two trophies! 

Fantastic achievement for them all and we're super proud of them all!

Recycle Your Old Kit

AFC Waverton are delighted to have partnered with KitAid to recycle any old football shirts, shorts, socks, shinpads and GK gloves that may be in garages, lofts and wardrobes.
We will have deposit points within the village hall between 10am and 2pm on the day of our end of season event on 14th July 2019 so if you have any old football kits (not just AFC Waverton) then please bring them and lets support his worthwhile charity. Plus, if you have outgrown football boots which still have life in them, more details will be coming out soon about our plans to recycle them too.
PLEASE NOTE: for the moment, please do not donate your current mbna kit! Please hold onto these for now – we will hold a follow on collection day after the new season starts to collect these once the new kit has arrived and been distributed.
About KitAid

Finding a home for your unwanted football kit in Africa and beyond KitAid is a charity set up by, Derrick Williams MBE, who visited Tanzania on a WaterAid supporters' trip in 1998. Derrick, being a mad footie fan, was amazed at the reception he received from children and adults in remote villages just because he wearing his favourite football shirt (Watford, Chesham Utd, Liverpool FC to name a few).

After two weeks in Tanzania, a flame was lit in Derrick's heart and he was on a mission to provide kit and equipment to the bare-footed children playing with footballs made of tied string and plastic bags. Over twenty years on, KitAid has sent out hundreds of thousands of kits to children and adults in 40 different countries across the world.

Want to join AFC Waverton? Registration now open!

Registration for the new season is now open and we are welcoming new players to our club. If your child would like to play for AFC Waverton in the coming season then please complete our registration enquiry form by clicking here. Not all our teams have current vacancies for players so a registration request is not a guaranteed place on the team.

Once we have all your details, we will contact the Team Manager and ask them to confirm whether or not a place is available. They will usually:

  • Approve your application and an email requesting that you pay the registration fee will be issued.
  • Get in touch with you direct to arrange attendance at a trials session.
  • Confirm that there are no available spaces at present but that your details have been added to the team waitlist.

Often team space is limited by the number of parent coaches we have for each team. Coaches are typically parents who have completed an FA Level 1 Coaching Course and are willing to get involved. The Club covers the cost of the training course so all that is required is a willing parent and some time to learn the coaching skills. The more parent coaches we have in place, the more teams that we can run enabling even more players to have fun playing football. If you’d like more information about being a coach then please let us know.

We believe our club fees offer real value. Our registration fee includes a new match kit (u7-u18) or training jacket (reception/Year 1’s) thanks to the generous support of MBNA, match day pitches and league refs fees, your insurance and coaching cost. Additional training fees are charged on a squad by squad basis so please contact your team manager for more information.

 Mini Soccer Reception/U7s         £50.00

Girls U7s                                           £10 (subsided by FA Foundation grant)

Juniors & Girls U8s to u11s          £75.00

Juniors & Girls U12s to u18s       £95.00

There's a £10 discount for siblings in each category so an U8's siblings rate would be £65. Level 1 coaches also receive a discount on the above rates.

Once your registration application has been approved and fees paid, you will receive an email requesting a copy of an identification document such as a passport and a decent quality head shot image. These are required to register your player on the FA system. Without these your player cannot be included in the squad list for matches.

2019/2020 Season registration is now OPEN!

Registration for the new season is now open and all players who were registered with the club for the 2018/2019 season should have already received their registration invite. More information will follow for new players wanting to join the club. 

Your email will direct you to our LoveAdmin (formerly known as Pay Subs Online) website where you'll be able to make payment of your registration fee. If we do not have a current photo on file then you will receive an email asking you to send a suitable image over which will be uploaded on to the FA system in order to complete your registration as an AFC Waverton player.

Join the Wildcats!

Our Wildcat sessions are proving to be popular and the girls are learning some great football skills as well as making new friends.

You'll find our Wildcats between 5.30pm and 6.30pm on the Queen's field next to Waverton Village Hall - CH3 7QN.

Wildcat sessions are open to all girls aged 5-11 who want to play football, why not come along to our next session on Wednesday 26th June 2019?

The majority of our current u9's Girls team started with us as Wildcats and now enjoy playing regularly as a team so there is clear progression.

AGM Update

Firstly, thank you to the committee, coaches and parents that attended our AGM on Friday evening. Although not as many as hoped attended, our new venue at The Cheshire can easily accommodate many more so we are looking forward to seeing some new faces at future meetings.


With regards to the Committee, we now have people in all roles, some existing and some new, but all with the best interests of the club at heart.

We have a range of other volunteers who have taken positions in non-committee roles which is great to see and much appreciated; these roles will be communicated via our website shortly.


We intend to host more meetings, to bring parents, coaches and helpers closer to the club. We have ambitious plans to grow both girls and boys sections and there is clearly a lot of work to do; but we are starting from a very solid foundation.


Please look out for future communications regarding plans and events, starting at the Waverton Village Fete on Saturday 6th July – we have a GK stand and are still looking for additional volunteers (to take part and to take money)! 


Quickly following this on Sunday 14th July is our club-wide end of season event – further details around timings and what’s on to be sent shortly.


Finally, a huge thank-you to our out-going Secretary, Shiralee Williams, and our Kit Co-ordinator, Simon Smith. Your contribution to the club has been significant and we thank you for all your efforts, patience and good-will that you have given to everyone here at AFC Waverton.

Claire House Cup

Have you heard about the Claire House Hospice Football Tournament on the weekend of the 15th and 16th June 2019?  The tournament this year is in memory of Elliot Wild, a mad keen footballer who sadly died aged 9 of leukaemia.

AFC Waverton will proudly have a team in every age group this year. Saturday 15th June 2019 will see the under 6s, under 8s, under 10s and under 12s compete. Sunday 16th June 2019 will see the under 7s, under 9s, under 11s and under 13s compete.

If you'd like to show your support then why not come down and cheer on the teams? The venue for this year’s tournament will be Ocean Fields, Wirral Rugby Club, Thornton Common Road, Ocean Fields, Wirral, CH63 0LT.  

Alternatively one of our lovely parents, who is the medical consultant for Claire House, has set up a just giving page that you could donate to - every penny will help Claire House support children with life limiting illnesses:
